Dearness Allowance 2025: Big Salary Boost Coming For Government Employees

Dearness Allowance 2025 : Government employees are going to get great news in 2025 Just like 2023 was special for employees this year will also bring happiness for them A new update has come about Dearness Allowance DA before the formation of the 8th Pay Commission the government can announce a final hike in DA Let us see how this will help employees

The Central Government changes DA every six months This means government employees get two salary hikes every year under the 7th CPC DA Hike The first hike starts in January and is announced in March before Holi The second comes in July and is declared in September or October before Diwali This time too the government may soon announce an increase in DA

The new DA will be applicable from January 2025 But the government has also approved the formation of the 8th Pay Commission 8th CPC although it has not started yet Some time ago Expenditure Secretary Manoj Goel said that the new Pay Commission might begin its work in April 2025 This means the upcoming hike in DA could be the last one before the new 8th Pay Commission starts

Dearness Allowance 2025 To Increase By 2%

The Dearness Allowance 2025 for central employees and Dearness Relief (DR) for pensioners might increase by 2% this year but the government will make the final decision. Last year in October 2024, the government raised DA by 3%.

Union leaders say inflation has not affected industrial workers much this time so the DA increase could be less than last year’s. The Dearness Relief (DR) and Dearness Allowance (DA) for pensioners depend on the Consumer Price Index (CPI-IW) which measures price changes for industrial workers.

Final DA Revision Before the 8th Pay Commission

The Dearness Allowance changes twice every year in January and July. In February, the Labor Bureau shared that in December 2024, the Consumer Price Index (CPI-IW) went down by 0.8 points and reached 143.7. This shows that industrial workers faced less inflation at 3.53%, which was 4.91% in December 2023.

Last time, the DA went up by 3%, making it 53% instead of 50% of the basic salary. If it goes up by 2%, it will become 55%. This might be the last DA change before the 8th Pay Commission starts. After that, central government employees may see a bigger salary increase.

Will DA Be Added to Basic Salary?

Government employees’ unions want Dearness Allowance 2025 to be added to their basic salary. Earlier, the 5th Pay Commission had a rule that if DA went above 50% of the basic salary, it would be combined. That is why in 2004, the DA was added to the basic salary. But later, the 6th Pay Commission removed this rule. The 7th Pay Commission wanted to bring it back, but the government did not allow it.

Now, employees are hoping that the 8th Pay Commission will bring this rule again. If it happens, there will be a big change in how government employees get paid. Many people also want to know how much central government employees’ salaries and pensions have increased over time.
